League 13
This week’s trade comes from League 14 where ‘Forgetaboutit’ trades Nate McClouth to ‘Beaneaters’ for Jake Peavy. Everyone has fairly strong opinions about trading a pitcher for a bat.

A team spokesman said that the three players were not injured and traveled with the team to Baltimore on Wednesday night.

With Billy Wagner sidelined, the Mets bullpen remains in disarray. On Tuesday night, in a very important contest against the Phillies, the Mets blew a 7-run lead. Although starter Pedro Martinez was responsible for 5 of the runs, the Mets bullpen went on to allow three runs in the ensuing 4 innings of work. Luis Alaya earned the save opportunity for the second game in a row, and he went on to blow...

If Tropical Storm Gustav turns into a hurricane and heads to the Big Easy, you can count on Tom Benson moving his team once again to San Antonio. The Saints director of operations spent the last two days contacting officials in San Antonio about practicing here. "They are exploring all their options," Jim Mery, the director of the Alamodome, told me. In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the Saints spent the entire 2005 season in San Antonio and even played three games at the Alamdome and in 2004, Hurricane Ivan forced them to spend three days here....

Now, Green's base salary will be $1.8 million, which frees up $2 million in salary-cap dollars.

Anonymous wants to know why Mark Kotsay would have been available in the N.L.-only league I profile for my FAAB bids. Any league that has Kotsay available in the free agent pool has very *unhealthy* dumping rules and/or is very heavy in available talent. Brett, who is in that league, responds: Why? The team that dropped Kotsay had an OF of Lewis, Rowand, Cody Ross, McLouth, and Kotsay (with Glaus at UT). The trading deadline had passed, and he dropped Kotsay for Dickerson because he needed speed more than average. The only dump trades he...

ProFootballTalk.com has confirmed two tips that quarterback Casey Bramlet, who was released by the Chargers on Tuesday, could be joining the Ravens as soon as tomorrow. Bramlet was in Miami for part of 2007 with Ravens offensive coordinator Cam Cameron, who was the coach of the Fins for the teams disastrous 1-15 season. The addition of Bramlet would be a fairly strong signal that Kyle Boller is headed to injured reserve due to a shoulder injury suffered in the second preseason game, against the Vikings.

With Charlie Batch recovering from a broken collarbone and the final roster cuts coming up, the Steelers could be entering the 2008 NFL season with four quarterbacks on the roster: Batch, starter Ben Roethlisberger, free-agent acquisition Byron Leftwich, and rookie Dennis Dixon. If Leftwich looks good, the Steelers could keep him, Batch, and rookie Dennis Dixon as the backups to Ben Roethlisberger. Other options include: The Steelers could carry Dixon on the practice squad, but theyd have to cut him to do so, and hed likely be gobbled up by another...

The Detroit Lions announced their five player cuts to get down to the 75-player maximum on Tuesday. There weren't any big surprises in the cuts defensive end Claude Harriott, defensive back Stephen Howell, center Carroll Madison, linebacker Tyrone Pruitt and kicker Dave Rayner although Rayner performed admirably throughout training camp and preseason games. The Lions will have to cut 22 more players from the Active/Inactive Lists by 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30 for the final cuts.

This morning on "The Wake Up Zone" on Nashville's 104.5 FM former Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow was a guest. UCLA's offensive coordinator had a zinger at the end of the interview when the conversation was about Matt Leinart and Vince Young: "Everyone knew who I wanted and... the minute that they took Vince I told my wife, 'I think my days are numbered here.'" The Titans chose Young even though Leinart already knew their offense because he had played for then-Titans offensive coordinator Norm Chow in college.

Eddie Royal's role in the Broncos' return game will remain unchanged, despite the rookie receiver's emergence as a starting player on offense, coach Mike Shanahan said this week. "I'm up for the challenge. Any chance I get to make a play, I want to be out there," Royal said. "He's giving me that chance, and I have to show him he made a good decision." Royal has had limited preseason opportunities - two kickoff returns in the Aug. 9 exhibition opener and one punt return the next week vs. Dallas. But special-teams coach Scott O'Brien has...

The Indianapolis Colts likely will be without Jeff Saturday for at least the first six weeks of the season, and longer if the Pro Bowl center decides to have surgery to repair ligament damage to his right knee, his agent Ralph Cindrich said today. If Saturday opts against surgery, I dont think hell be able to get back on the field for at least six or seven weeks, Cindrich said. Hes down for a while. WR Glenn Martinez also has the chance to make the team as the kick returner, leaving little room for Colbert.

Seahawks LB Lofa Tatupu suffered a bone bruise in his knee, coach Mike Holmgren said, but Seattle's three-time Pro Bowler should be ready for the first game of the season in Buffalo on Sept. 7. Tatupu was on the field, watching his teammates stretch before Wednesday's practice and then went inside. Tatupu probably won't play in the exhibition finale on Friday against Oakland, but he might not have played in that game anyway.

Let's create a fantasy team entirely from undrafted players. For our purposes, let's say anyone drafted 277th or later on average in March. If nothing else, this shows the extreme importance of free agency in fantasy leagues. How many of these guys are on your team? If anyone wants to tabulate these players' stats at the end of the season, I'd be curious to see how the team stacks up in my leagues.

The picks appear to be low/conditional picks and aren't known at this time Good thing is that we don't take a cap hit and 2.6 million will be added to the cap this year (Douglas signed a 4 year/10 million dollar deal in the off season).
